Alyssa Aviles is a visual artist and arts educator. Aviles is a printmaker by trade and embodies the knowledge of the printmaker across the different mediums she works in. Viewing the printmaker as both an alchemist and a machine, Aviles becomes an instrument in generating her reality. Aviles’ work reimagines the traditional Chicano styles of illustration and symbolism. She explores themes of liminality, mysticism, identity, ancestry and the feminine from the lens of the Latinx experience. Alyssa graduated with a BFA in Printmaking from Massachusetts College of Art and Design and is currently based in San Francisco, CA.
